DETAILS:
Marian Christie is an amazing poet and (added bonus) a mathematician. You really should listen to Christie in Series 2, Episode 9 of the Penteract Poetry Podcast hosted by Anthony Etherin or follow blogs about all manner of subjects! The poet's work is part of The Book of Penteract (published by Penteract Press) and Pandemic Love and Other Affinities (IceFloe Press). Because both of us have pieces in these two anthologies, I consider us poetry family. Christie is an absolute treasure in the poetry community and someone you can depend on to respond to poetry and poets alike! Christie has a new book out with Penteract Press and I just cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of Triangles. Read the blurbs below and support indie presses! More news to follow regarding Christie's projects releasing later in 2023.
Triangles presents a sequence of poems inspired by various types of triangle, presenting also an equally varied array of forms and constraints.

"Marian Christie’s poems use strict mathematical structures: Pythagoras’ Theorem, the tritina form, the Fano Plane, Pascal’s Triangle, Sierpinski’s fractal, the Fibonacci sequence, and more. The themes of the poems are timeless: nature’s magic and menace, love and its complexity, memories and the passage of time. The form and content of each poem intertwine and shimmer on the page with the beauty and precision of a spiderweb glinting in the sun."
— Sarah Glaz

"As light through a triangular prism paints a rainbow on the wall, the poems in Christie's Triangles glimmer through their smart and playful constraints. Using a compelling array of experiments, mathematical theory and vispo, Triangles proves the beauty of mathematics. In blending the visual and lyrical with the numerical, Christie finds art in science, science in art."
— Teo Eve

"The geometrical structures are just a small facet of the beauty of these poems. The reader watches how the underlying mathematics unfurls and layers words and images that take your breath away, the forms opening many possibilities in the beautiful worlds Christie shares with us. A real tri-umph!"
— Kinneson Lalor

    DEAR READER
Welcome to my literature, music, and visual poetry project. My blog represents a method for deciphering the fragments left behind in the Anthropocene. Writers use ashes as a metaphorical device in storytelling. Have you ever wondered about the symbolism of ashes? Archaeological fragments of tablet, papyrus, bone, scroll, and pottery are recognizable the world over. In our digital era, however, our lost folkloric works disintegrate into dust. In this sense, I consume the silver flakes and use my he{art] as a vessel to rise from dystopic wastelands. I share lore through the oral tradition. Ashes to Ashes we continue on ∞ to infinity ∞ We are ash. We are stories. We are star dust. We are eternal.
