...my next collection of poetry, The Second Stop Is Jupiter, will be out Fall 2023 — i would love to have it peppered with illustrations similar to the artwork of Aubrey Beardsley or Arthur Rackham. and beyond that im working on rendering that collection as a graphic novel in that same art style based in Afrofuturism... it's been a challenging project so far."

Ms. Veteran America finalist Terace Garnier is teamed up with artists (Including Uniting US artists like Maggs Vibo) from across the world and raised awareness about home insecurities among female veterans and their children with a Portrait Gallery Fundraiser & Silent Auction. The virtual exhibit included original pieces of art by former veterans who used the medium to survive the struggles of homelessness, portraits by a nationally known photographer, celebrity guest speakers, Washington Nationals paraphernalia, and door prizes on October 23rd. Proceeds from the event went to Final Salute Inc:

Here is a Special shout-out to Connie Bacchus. The artist recently contributed to a Fevers of the Mind Ekphrastic Poetry Challenge. EIC David O'Nan asked his Twitter and Facebook followers to submit a response to my image "Lone Road to the Island of Moloka'i." Bacchus has several collections of poetry available for purchase at Amazon. Tweets @bconnie509
Congrats to the artists who participated in the Fevers of the Mind (FOTM) Ekphrastic Poetry Challenge. Each artist had less than a week to jot down a poem and submit it to David O'Nan for consideration. FOTM EIC David O'Nan challenged artists to respond to a scene I photographed while on holiday in Moloka'i. This photo "Lone Road to the Island of Moloka'i" was included at the FOTM website and has works in several anthology titles, edited by David O'Nan and HilLesha O'Nan, available on Amazon. Here is a sampling:
Since my household goods are currently on board a container ship floating on the ocean enroute to a tropical destination, this challenge feels perfectly timed. In as many weeks, I will be back on an island with the surf and spirits of the seas. This art inspiration awakening in me the mysteries of ocean lore. I am so thankful to David for the invitation to collaborate again on a project.
Be sure to follow each of the artists and keep up to date with Fevers of the Mind for new art inspiration, Quick 9 Interviews, and art challenges. Hint: David is a very giving artist and invites collaboration often.
Hear Maggs Vibo read three pieces on the hit podcast iamb: poetry seen and heard, curated by Mark Antony Owen. Just click this LINK on 15 September when all 45 poems by 15 poets goes live. The best part... one of the poems is an iamb exclusive and a new work by Vibo.
Mark Owen is a generous curator with a keen eye for attention to detail. I encourage poets to audition because Owen is a fab communicator and genuinely cares about the spoken word.
I have three poems for Wave 11. Two are visual poems (one is previously recorded), but there is an iamb exclusive poem which is a new piece that hasn't been heard or seen in public. I am keen to learn what my peers think once they are able to hear all 3 poems together.

Pre-Orders Now for the Pandemic Love and other Affinities, Containing work by 72 Canadian & international contributors — poets, experimental poets, visual artists, prose writers, photographers — the Anthology, edited by Moira J. Saucer, Robert Frede Kenter, Anindita Sengupta & Jakky Bankong-Obi, is an "amalgam of the work chosen by our guest editors in collaboration with Moira and Robert, expressive of the nature of the evocative call & its theme: how do we conceive of ‘love’ in the midst of global pain, suffering, illness, confusion, loss; the tireless business of care in the midst of the international COVID pandemic crisis. We believe the results formulate an evocative picture of our times, a collection of depth and breadth to cherish in these complicated years and for the future."

Many of the works here have a surreal feel, as if their creators are submerged in disorienting worlds of dreams and nightmares encountering existential threats to everything familiar, everything loved. When we started work on this anthology, we believed the Pandemic would be over by summer 2020, but that’s not what happened. Since the first lockdowns began in March over two years ago, COVID-19 has washed over the globe in waves. As this collection goes to press, even with effective vaccines and boosters, the virus is still evolving and mutating and posing serious dangers globally. We hope that Pandemic Love and Other Affinities will serve as an enduring archive of the human heart, showing how we lived and loved during the Pandemic."

Thrilled to virtually attend the Oxford Brookes "Shaking the Lights" series hosted by Niall Munro of the Poetry Centre. After the event, anticipating the release of a new book by Dr Eric White. The online event "...explores the works of several American avant-garde writers from the twentieth century. This series of events from February to April showcases both the writers - some well-known, some less celebrated - and also Eric's fascinating research into these poets and their time."
Follow Oxford Brookes Poetry Centre for lots of other highly anticipated summer literature events.

Artist and visionary, Yayoi Kusama's 'Infinity Mirrors' Exhibition is at the Smithsonian's Hirshhorn Museum in DC. It's challenging to pick a favorite piece of art, so I will just say it was a bucket list visit.
