#witches
DETAILS: Thanks to thetravel.com for publishing this haunting article and including some of the art I've created regarding the long lost lore of witchducking in Virginia. CONCLUSION: Be sure to check out the archaeological dig which recovered a witch bottle at an American Civil War site (included in earlier blogs) and see my lecture at the folklorepodcast.com which covers some of the fascinating relics and history from Virginia's darker past. #shoutout
DETAILS: Here is a Special shout-out to Connie Bacchus. The artist recently contributed to a Fevers of the Mind Ekphrastic Poetry Challenge. EIC David O'Nan asked his Twitter and Facebook followers to submit a response to my image "Lone Road to the Island of Moloka'i." Bacchus has several collections of poetry available for purchase at Amazon. Tweets @bconnie509 CONCLUSION: #SupportIndieArtists Ekphrastic Poetry: #feversofthemind DETAILS: Congrats to the artists who participated in the Fevers of the Mind (FOTM) Ekphrastic Poetry Challenge. Each artist had less than a week to jot down a poem and submit it to David O'Nan for consideration. FOTM EIC David O'Nan challenged artists to respond to a scene I photographed while on holiday in Moloka'i. This photo "Lone Road to the Island of Moloka'i" was included at the FOTM website and has works in several anthology titles, edited by David O'Nan and HilLesha O'Nan, available on Amazon. Here is a sampling: This art inspiration awakening the mysteries of ocean lore. I am so thankful to David for the invitation to collaborate again on a project.
CONCLUSION: Be sure to follow each of the artists and keep up to date with Fevers of the Mind for new art inspiration, Quick 9 Interviews, and art challenges. Hint: David is a very giving artist and invites collaboration often. #iambpoetry DETAILS: Hear Maggs Vibo read three pieces on the hit podcast iamb: poetry seen and heard, curated by Mark Antony Owen. Just click this LINK on 15 September when all 45 poems by 15 poets goes live. The best part... one of the poems is an iamb exclusive and a new work by Vibo. CONCLUSION: Mark Owen is a generous curator with a keen eye for attention to detail. I encourage poets to audition because Owen is a fab communicator and genuinely cares about the spoken word. I have three poems for Wave 11. Two are visual poems (one is previously recorded), but there is an iamb exclusive poem which is a new piece that hasn't been heard or seen in public. I am keen to learn what my peers think once they are able to hear all 3 poems together. |
DEAR READER
Welcome to my literature, music, and visual poetry project. My blog represents a method for deciphering the fragments left behind in the Anthropocene. Writers use ashes as a metaphorical device in storytelling. Have you ever wondered about the symbolism of ashes? Archaeological fragments of tablet, papyrus, bone, scroll, and pottery are recognizable the world over. In our digital era, however, our lost folkloric works disintegrate into dust. In this sense, I consume the silver flakes and use my he{art] as a vessel to rise from dystopic wastelands. I share lore through the oral tradition. Ashes to Ashes we continue on ∞ to infinity ∞ We are ash. We are stories. We are star dust. We are eternal.
