A perfect fit to have them included in the Geographies Series. This piece envisions the malice of language, numbers, and symbols. How words are twisted by superstition, hatred, religion, internal dialog, or time. How repetition becomes a sort of séance or geography for other worlds. How silence is viewed as an internal and external geography. How money creates geography and extends into extraterrestrial spaces and faces." #FEVERSOFTHEMIND #FOTM # DAVIDONAN DETAILS: Launched today is the new Fevers of the Mind Poetry, Art & Music: Issue 10 Anthology. She came home from Iraq in 2004 and went to talk to someone about what she experienced. She couldn’t get the words out. But he told her to use her words through writing. And that advice has helped her not only to find the words, but also to find community. She shared about her experience in the Army, highlighting her deployment to Kuwait and then into Iraq. She also shared her journey of being a military spouse far longer than she expected. Her husband is a CWO5 and has served for 28 years." #AANHPI DETAILS: Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Artist Call for Submissions The Office of Health Equity is calling on Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander artists who have served, are currently serving, or are a family member of those who have served in the military to submit their work to be displayed at Office of Health Equity’s Virtual Art Gallery. The Office of Health Equity has asked artists who have connections to the military to help visualize the military experience, social justice, and what health equity for all Veterans might look like. This gallery grew out of Office of Health Equity’s Health Equity Action Plan efforts to increase awareness of the significance of health disparities, their impact on the nation, and the actions necessary to improve health outcomes for racial, ethnic, and underserved populations." #boldjourneymagazine #magazineinterview

Work by all my favourite vispo artists is included – Gary Barwin, Laura Kerr, Robert Frede Kenter, Richard Carter, Richard Biddle, Maggs Vibo, Michelle Moloney King, David Read, Imogen Reid and James Knight himself, to name but a few – as well as many others whom I hadn’t come across before and whose work I intend to explore further. It’s a glorious deep dive into form, colour and technique, available both as a print book and in downloadable pdf form. (I originally bought the pdf version, and enjoyed it so much that the print version has now sneaked its way on to my Christmas wish list.)." #mimosasandgingerbreads

DEAR READER
Welcome to my literature, music, and visual poetry project. My blog represents a method for deciphering the fragments left behind in the Anthropocene. Writers use ashes as a metaphorical device in storytelling. Have you ever wondered about the symbolism of ashes? Archaeological fragments of tablet, papyrus, bone, scroll, and pottery are recognizable the world over. In our digital era, however, our lost folkloric works disintegrate into dust. In this sense, I consume the silver flakes and use my he{art] as a vessel to rise from dystopic wastelands. I share lore through the oral tradition. Ashes to Ashes we continue on ∞ to infinity ∞ We are ash. We are stories. We are star dust. We are eternal.
