YouTube: TATE Leonora was a restless voyager through deep journeys, always in quest of mythic revelations. Her aim was to repair a shattered world and a means to live in it, unearthing the many images that came her way. Guided by her intuitive meanderings she came upon the I Ching or Book of Changes, carving beautiful wooden tokens and dwelling on the secret language of hexagrams to reach her own patterns of change. She also took other paths like divination, magic, and meditation, since all developed into components for a complex mental vehicle that became articulated into her own navigational devices, launching her towards a wilderness of mind..." #libraryofcongress #maggsvibo DETAILS: It is upon ancient shards and fragments that We the People built a foundation worth defending. Today, defenders of democracy were awarded honors in DC and a moment of silence marked the events of two years ago. It is through art that we process history. To learn more about the art experiment photographed, please see: LOC To read more on this topic, read National Geographic: Article. The ancient Greeks were the first to create a democracy. The word “democracy” comes from two Greek words that mean people (demos) and rule (kratos). Democracy is the idea that the citizens of a country should take an active role in the government of their country and manage it directly or through elected representatives." #holes #aliceinwonderland #writingprompt DETAILS: A new year, which means... new writing prompt challenges. For this first prompt, let's talk about holes in literature—probably one of the most famous being the hole Alice tumbles down. As you think about literature with holes, consider the significance. Even think about plot holes. Ask yourself: Are holes intentional? What do you fill within a hole? Anything or no-thing? Why is it important to think of holes as a metaphor? Describe the hole... it's qualities, shapes, materials, etc. Where does the hole lead? Think of holes leading to underground caverns, claustrophobic spaces, the underworld, the belly of a whale, or some dark nightmare. What do we take away from holes—be it, an object or a lesson? How do holes occur in nature? Think of a hag stones, yew tree hearts, or a water source. Or consider an unnatural hole that tells you to "Mind the Gap" at the underground Metro stations. Take a moment to generate lists of ideas about holes. Or simple punch a hole into a piece of paper. Will you use a paper punch, a pencil to poke the paper, or simply press your thumbs into the paper? All of these actions will generate light through the hole. What you do with that inspiration is entirely up to you. As I look at this ash poem, it is apparent to me what the hole signified. And there is much to learn from holes and the whole of metaphor and symbolism. As we write into 2023, use the "whole" of fresh memories from last year to plan out new writing exercises. Be the Spark!!! Alice, by herself, followed the rabbit into a hole that led to the parts of herself that were confusing and scary. Ask yourself if your various partners were meant to be just such rabbits that kindly tried to show you the way into your deepest self, that is, your open heart. Now you are finally willing to enter" #mindfulloving DETAILS: In keeping with the NY23, posting a mantra that works nicely with book recommendations. Study David Richo and Thich Nhat Hanh books and practice chanting and Om Mani Padme Hum. In the practice of devotion to Avolokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion, the initiate begins by honoring the bodhisattva and ends in acknowledging that there is no distinction between them. Indeed, a shrine to a bodhisattva or saint can be seen as a mirror of what we are in our essential nature—that is, our Buddha-nature, Christ consciousness, the breath of God, resembling what Carl Jung called the higher Self. We can also call that the divine heart-center of ourselves. We are mirrored by the divine because our humanity includes divinity that can never be damaged or diminished. This is the spiritual implication of mindlfulness, which can free us from a limiting identification with our ego and awaken us to a richer sense of our oneness and the divine." #erasure

Saucer). There has been a great deal of flustered fluttering on Twitter (now known as X) in recent weeks, as regular users have become concerned for the platform’s viability. Change is always tricky to deal with. Amid expressions of nervousness, uncertainty for the future, defiance, outrage etc, it’s also become clear how significant the micro-blogging site has been to the poetry community – as an online meeting place where we can form new friendships, discover new journals, explore unfamiliar poetic forms, become reacquainted with old favourites, market our own work and celebrate the work of others." |
DEAR READER
Welcome to my literature, music, and visual poetry project. My blog represents a method for deciphering the fragments left behind in the Anthropocene. Writers use ashes as a metaphorical device in storytelling. Have you ever wondered about the symbolism of ashes? Archaeological fragments of tablet, papyrus, bone, scroll, and pottery are recognizable the world over. In our digital era, however, our lost folkloric works disintegrate into dust. In this sense, I consume the silver flakes and use my he{art] as a vessel to rise from dystopic wastelands. I share lore through the oral tradition. Ashes to Ashes we continue on ∞ to infinity ∞ We are ash. We are stories. We are star dust. We are eternal.
